Interest Rate locked in!

I almost forgot to mention it, so much has been going on. On Tuesday we locked in our interest rate! We couldn't take it and we finally just "did it". We locked in at 4.375 with -.375 credit/discount with 1 loan origination point! I am very pleased.  The best rate if I lucked up would be 4.25 but 4.375 works just fine. I was just hoping the rates would remain at 4.5 and we went down even more. :)

Note: Each .25% reduction or addition is about $60. So if you lock in at 5% and your mortgage is $1,060.00 and the rate drops to 4.75 your rate will be $1,000.00.  I hope this helps someone.

I am happy I do not have to stalk our loan officer anymore. :)

That's it for tonight! Happy building!

APPROVED!

Today we got APPROVED! Yeah, that's right it's official and right before the Gov't shutdown may happen! *fingers crossed that it doesn't, even though we were told to report to work regardless (I'm a contractor for the military)* We are getting a FHA loan and we needed to get our loan number before they make higher MI rate changes on the 18th of April! :)

Side note: I'm feeling really blessed right now, despite some of the personal things going on in my life (my paternal grandmother is extremely ill and my maternal grandfather has pneumonia) I have been really down and all over the place even though I am building the house of my dreams, but this week I put on my big girl shoes, prayed and realized I am blessed and thankful for everything that God has enabled me to work hard to achieve and for the peace he has given me during this difficult time in my life.

Happy building and I'll keep you guys posted on our progress!

BTW CTI finally called us!  We meet with them on April 23rd, that's like 2 whole weeks away! I'm ready to select now! lol, We meet with our sales rep tomorrow to go over the changes we have made so far... I can't wait to see if any changes have been made in the community this may be our last time on that side of town for a few weeks, until we start the next phase of building.

Your Lot?

GM,

Since we began this journey and selected a lot, I have been wondering how much space will I have once our house is built? Our lot is about 9200 sq ft (rectangular) I wonder is this enough space for a decent size backyard? It's hard to tell the size, when they haven't built any homes on the street that we are building on. They have blocked off one house that they are building, however it was the biggest lot that they had available on our street at that time and its hard to tell since it is a 12,000 sq ft corner lot (of course that lot was sold already, we purchased the 3rd lot in our section)

Question of the day: What size is your lot and do you have a decent size backyard?
